Ilya Tarasov, exercise therapy instructor at the rehabilitation and recovery department of the City Mariinsky Hospital, named the best exercises to get rid of a cough. His words are quoted by “Doctor Peter”.
To begin with, Tarasov advised standing up with your elbows bent, inhaling through your nose while clenching your fists tightly, and exhaling through your mouth, relaxing your hands. For the next exercise, you need to lower your head to your chest, put your right hand on your stomach, and your left hand on your chest. Next, you need to inhale through your nose, inflating your stomach, and exhale through your mouth, deflating your stomach and relaxing your shoulders.
For the last exercise, you need to place your feet shoulder-width apart, placing your hands on the lower half of your sternum. Then you need to inhale through your nose, while moving your shoulders back and using your hands to pull your chest to the sides. Next, you need to exhale through your mouth, returning your shoulders to their original position and lightly pressing on your sternum with your hands.
On November 23, Tarasov named the best exercises for recovery from pneumonia. He recommended various variations of breathing exercises.
