Russian boxer Murtazaliev explained his words about his desire to compete for the United States as a joke

Russian boxer Bahram Murtazaliev explained his words about his intention to compete under the US flag. He is quoted by Mma.metaratings.ru.

“The phrase I said about the American flag was a joke in a personal conversation. I didn’t imagine that they would make a sensation out of her,” said the athlete. He emphasized that he loves his homeland and did not think of representing another country. Murtazaliev added that he would like to come out with the Russian flag, but its demonstration is prohibited.

On November 24, Murtazaliev announced his intention to compete under the US flag. The athlete explained the decision by saying that he applied for a green card.
