After mistakes made this Monday morning, Uefa recognized the flaws and held a new draw to define the matches of the last 16 of the Champions League. With the changes, Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo no longer face each other.
Paris Saint-Germain now face Real Madrid. Manchester United, on the other hand, faces Atlético de Madrid, a duel between the teams that caused confusion in the first draw. Champions Chelsea continue with Lille as opponents and Jorge Jesus’ Benfica meet Ajax.
The 16 classified teams were split into two pots. The top finishers were in pot 1, while the runners-up were in pot 2.
The teams in pot 1 will have the right to decide the round of 16 playing at home. One of the changes for this season is that there is no longer an away goal rule.
In the draw, there were only two restrictions: teams that were in the same group in the first phase and clubs from the same country could not fight each other.
The first games are scheduled for the 15th, 16th, 22nd and 23rd of February. The return ones are for the 8th, 9, 15th and 16th of March.
