Rodnina on checking Russians for connections with the military: the money has run out
Three-time Olympic champion in figure skating, State Duma deputy Irina Rodnina ridiculed the fact that international sports federations force Russian athletes to pay for verification for connections with military structures. Her words are quoted by Sport24.
“Do they view all sanctions against Russia as additional income? There’s no money – we’re out!” – Rodnina said. In her opinion, we need to focus on internal competitions.
Earlier on Thursday, November 23, General Director of the Russian Olympic Committee Vladimir Sengleyev said that international sports federations are checking through the media any connections with CSKA and Dynamo. He said that in gymnastics it costs three thousand francs for the athlete and 1.5 thousand for the staff, in rock climbing – five thousand francs, in archery – 750 euros.
On March 28, the International Olympic Committee recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in neutral status. At the same time, athletes from Russia and Belarus associated with the armed forces or security agencies of their countries are recommended to be excluded from participation in competitions.
