Jermell Charlo refused the fight with Russian Murtazaliev and lost his IBF title
American boxer Jermell Charlo has been stripped of his International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior middleweight title. This is reported on the organization’s website.
Charlo had to agree on a fight with Russian Bahram Murtazaliev. However, the American informed IBF President Daryl Peoples that he was refusing to fight at the moment.
Previously, Charlo was stripped of his World Boxing Organization (WBO) world title. The new owner of the belt without a fight is Australian Tim Tszyu.
Charlo, 33, holds the World Boxing Association (WBA) and World Boxing Council (WBC) belts. In total, during his career he won 35 victories (19 by knockout), suffering two defeats. Another fight with his participation ended in a draw.
