They haven’t lost at home in over 10 years! In the “Holy War” one goal was decisive

The so-called “Święta Wojna” is an emotional clash between two best handball teams in Poland – and Orlen Wis³a P³ock. It was no different this time, especially since the Polish championship is in play.

Kielce is better than Płock again! Fortress not conquered for 10 years!

The Polish champions from Kielce are usually a slight favorite of this match and it was also this time. The team confirmed these expectations and they led from start to finish. However, the inhabitants of Kielce for a long time were not able to jump back from their eternal rivals. Until the break they were leading 14:11 and only in the end they increased their lead to five goals (26:21). This was, among other things, thanks to the very good form of the goalkeeper. In addition, French winger Dylan Nahi scored nine goals for the hosts.

In the last minutes of the game, however, handball players started to reduce their losses. Thanks to the effective action of Sergei Kosorotov in the last seconds they lost with only one goal – 26:27. For Łomża Vive Kielce it is the 161st winning match in its own hall. The last time the team from Kielce lost at home in May 2011, when Wisła turned out to be better in the grand final, winning 32:30 after extra time.

In Sunday’s game, Nahi (9), Karaliok and Sićko (5 each) scored the most goals for Łomża Vive. In the visiting team, the most successful were Abel Serdio (6 goals), Michał Daszek (5) and Sergey Kosorotov (4).

The Polish championship will be decided in Płock?

The one-goal defeat in Kielce may not be the worst result for Orlen Wisła Płock. Xavi Sabate’s team, like Łomża Vive, recorded only victories in the remaining games at the halfway point of the season. If such a situation persisted until the last round, the May “Holy War” in Płock will decide the fate of the championship.

Then, if Orlen Wisła had won, the championship would have been determined by the balance of the tie between Płock and Kielce. Then Wisła would have to make up only one goal loss from today’s match.
