Joshua Kimmich, who has been challenging the use of coronavirus vaccination for months, is facing a long hiatus in the game.
In late November, it was reported that Kimmich had contracted the coronavirus. The 26-year-old had been in isolation for some time, because he knew that he had been in contact with infected people.
It is true that Kimmich received a negative test in recent days and could finish isolation, but it turns out that he will not return to football soon. “I’m glad my isolation is over. I’m fine, but due to a slight pulmonary infiltrate I am not able to exercise at full capacity. I can’t wait to come back in January,” Kimmich said in a statement on the Bayern website.
he has been at the center of the debate in Germany since he revealed that he did not want the vaccine because of “personal concerns” about the long-term consequences of vaccination. The Bayern midfielder has been criticized and accused of neglecting his duties as a role model in a country with one of the lowest vaccination rates in Europe (around 68 percent).
Kimmich confirms – he will get vaccinated. And he wishes he had done it sooner
In an exclusive interview with ZDF TV, Joshua Kimmich admitted that his decision not to vaccinate was wrong. “Maybe I had to go through what I have been through first. Of course, looking back, I would have made the decision to vaccinate earlier, but it wasn’t obvious to me back then, admitted Kimmich.
Kimmich has matured for this decision since he himself fell ill with COVID-19. His course of the disease was mostly asymptomatic. Most of all, he lacked taste and smell at that time.
However, since the study revealed small infiltrates in the lungs, he is not yet able to join a full training program. “Otherwise, there is a risk that it will get into my heart and that I will suffer longer consequences,” explained the assistant, who will get vaccinated when given permission from doctors.

Kimmich also referred to the wave of criticism towards him. – I have to admit that some boundaries have been exceeded. We always talk about respect, tolerance, openness – and these are the values that I missed so much in this discussion. I also had the impression that one or the other was trying to promote themselves in this situation. It was not always just an objective criticism – summed up Kimmich.
The leader of the table, Bayern Munich, will play two more league games before the winter break. On Tuesday at 18:30 he will play away from VfB Stuttgart, and on Friday at 20:30 he will play at the Allianz Arena
