Rodnina – in response to Tchaikovskaya’s criticism: I trained many skaters
Three-time Olympic champion in figure skating, State Duma deputy Irina Rodnina responded to criticism from the head coach of the Russian national figure skating team, Elena Tchaikovskaya. Her words are quoted by Sport24.
Rodnina stated that she coached many skaters who stood on the podium. She emphasized that she worked in the United States for 12 years with foreign athletes, so she considered the talk about lack of fulfillment strange.
On November 13, Rodnina criticized the Russian Grand Prix, calling the competition “the championship of the housing office.” After this, Tchaikovskaya called Rodnina a great athlete who did not find herself in figure skating and coaching.
On March 1, 2022, the International Skating Union banned Russians and Belarusians from participating in competitions under its auspices. Due to sanctions, skaters were unable to take part in the World and European Championships, as well as in other international tournaments. In this regard, it was decided to hold the Russian Grand Prix.
