Former Lokomotiv footballer Sergei Gurenko called on Russians to go to Europe
Former footballer of Lokomotiv Moscow and the Belarusian national team Sergei Gurenko called on Russian players to go to Europe. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
The ex-defender said that every athlete should set maximum goals for himself, noting that in Europe football is much faster and more dynamic. “If there is an opportunity to play there, then why not try,” he thought.
Gurenko became the Russian champion in 2004 as part of Lokomotiv. He also has three victories in the Russian Cup and one national Super Cup with the team. The footballer also won the Italian Cup with Parma.
On November 14, former defender of the Russian national team and CSKA Moscow Vasily Berezutsky called on Russian athletes to leave the country. He stated that if athletes want to achieve something at a high level, they should try themselves abroad.
