The NHL recognized Nikita Kucherov and Artemy Panarin as the first and second stars of the day
Russian players Nikita Kucherov and Artemy Panarin were recognized as the first and second stars of the day in the National Hockey League (NHL). This is reported on the organization’s website.
New York Rangers forward Panarin, who became the second star of the night, scored a double in the match against the New Jersey Devils and helped his team win with a score of 5:3. Tampa Bay Lightning forward Kucherov, who topped the list of the day’s brightest players, scored two goals and made an assist against the Edmonton Oilers.
Thanks to this double, Panarin set a new Rangers record for the longest scoring streak. He has scored in all 15 matches since the start of the 2023/2024 season. In addition, the forward renewed a similar achievement among Russian hockey players in the NHL. The previous record holder was Dmitry Kvartalnov, who scored points in 14 consecutive games during the 1992-1993 season while playing for the Boston Bruins.
Kucherov previously ranked in the top 10 best active NHL players according to the NHL Network. “He scored 100 points in a season for the third time in his career. This is the only Tampa player who has more than one such season,” noted the compilers of the rating and put the Russian in eighth place.
