Zenit footballer Mostovoy: salaries in the French championship are lower than in Russia
Zenit footballer Andrei Mostovoy compared salaries in the Russian and French championships. His words are reported by RB Sport.
The midfielder shared that he could have moved to one of the French clubs, but one of the reasons for extending the contract with Zenit was the financial side of the transfer. “Salaries there are several times lower than in Russia, I was surprised,” he explained.
Earlier, Mostovoy said that he did not go to the French Championship because the club did not have the opportunity to buy him out. “The club knows there is a dream [играть в Европе]”, the footballer added.
This season, 26-year-old Mostovoy took part in 11 matches in all tournaments, in which he scored one goal. The midfielder has been playing for Zenit since 2019. As part of the St. Petersburg team, the footballer became the Russian champion three times and won the country’s Super Cup four times. His contract runs until June 2027.
