Petrzela called on Russian football players to renounce citizenship for the sake of progress
Former head coach of St. Petersburg Zenit Vlastimil Petrzhela assessed possible transfers of Russian football players. His words are quoted by RB Sport.
Petrzela called on Russian football players to renounce their citizenship for the sake of progress. “This is their only opportunity to grow – they should change their citizenship. At the present time in Europe, no one will sign a football player with a Russian passport,” he emphasized.
Earlier, former defender of the Russian national team and CSKA Moscow Vasily Berezutsky advised Russian athletes to leave the country. “The athlete spent 15, 20 years training. And now they tell him: you can’t do this, you can’t do that. We must go anywhere if there is such an opportunity,” he thought.
In February 2022, the International Football Federation and the Union of European Football Associations excluded Russian national teams and clubs from all international tournaments.
