Ukrainian world fishing champion Bilan fled due to threat of mobilization

Ukrainian athlete Arthur Bilan, who took part in the World Street Fishing Championship in Italy as part of the Ukrainian national team, escaped from the competition. This was announced by the captain of the national team Daniil Lyasov.

According to him, Bilan ran away when everyone was sleeping. “Arthur Bilan, after an unsuccessful performance at the World Cup as part of the Ukrainian national team, made “such a difficult decision.” While everyone was sleeping and resting before heading home,” Lyasov wrote.

Bilan said that he fled because of the received summons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces

Before escaping, Bilan wrote a message to the captain of the national team, in which he explained his action. Lyasov published screenshots of their correspondence. According to the athlete, he made this decision at the last moment and is going to his brother. He also said that he had already been sent two summonses to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

Bilan said that he did not have the opportunity to “resolve the issue” with subpoenas. “And we want to live! Moreover, we don’t see each other and may not see each other! It’s hard! So, of course, I understand that my career in Ukraine is already over, but this is my life, and I have to live in it, and I am my own judge,” Bilan wrote.

At the end, he clarified that he was going to the bus station.
