Russian mixed style fighter (MMA) Khabib Nurmagomedov reacted to the result of the main fight of the Absolute Fighting Championship (UFC) tournament in Las Vegas, in which Brazilian Charles Oliveira defeated American Dustin Poirier. Post available in Twitter.
During the fight, the 33-year-old Russian noted that he considered the fight very interesting, and admitted that he supported Porier in the confrontation. Oliveira forced the American to surrender in the third round with a rear naked choke. Nurmagomedov congratulated the reigning champion on the title defense.
“You deserve it, champion,” said Nurmagomedov.
Oliveira won his tenth straight win and defended his UFC lightweight belt for the first time. He won it in a duel with Michael Chandler in May 2021. The fighters fought for the vacant belt after Nurmagomedov dismissed the champion’s powers.
Nurmagomedov fought Poirier in the fall of 2019. Then the American got a chance to fight for the championship belt held by the Russian. Nurmagomedov won with a choke hold.
