Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree renaming Kirovaul in the Kizilyurt district of Dagestan to the village of Manapkala. The decree was published on the legal information portal.
The settlement was renamed Manapkala in honor of coach Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, the father of former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. It is noted that the proposal was made by the village administration, whose initiative was supported by the People’s Assembly of the Republic of Dagestan.
Nurmagomedov is a former UFC lightweight champion. He defended the title three times before retiring. The athlete won 29 victories in 29 professional fights according to MMA rules.
57-year-old Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov passed away on July 3, 2020 due to complications from a coronavirus infection. He was the coach of Khabib, as well as other current UFC fighters Islam Makhachev and Umar Nurmagomedov.
