Mostovoy explained the refusal of the national team coaches to call Dzyuba to the training camp

Mostovoy said that Dzyuba was not called up to the national team because of his relationship with Karpin

Former Spartak and Russian national team player Alexander Mostovoy explained the refusal of the national team coaches to call forward Artem Dzyuba to the training camp. His words are quoted by RB Sport.

“I have already said that Artem’s career in the national team ended 1.5 years ago. The reason for this is the situation around, the relationship with the coach,” Mostovoy said.

On November 7, the composition of the Russian national team for the November training camp was announced. The coaching staff, led by Valery Karpin, among others, included Monaco midfielder Alexander Golovin and French Le Havre midfielder Daler Kuzyaev.

Dzyuba played under Karpin at Spartak in the 2011/2012 season. In 2021, the coach did not call the forward to the national team for the 2022 World Cup qualifying matches. Later, Karpin included the striker on the team’s extended list, but he refused to play due to poor playing shape.

The last time Dzyuba took to the field as part of the Russian national team at the European Championships in June 2021. In total, during his career in the national team, the 35-year-old forward played 55 matches, scoring 30 goals. On February 8, he joined Lokomotiv’s roster.
