A political scientist explained the different attitude of the IOC towards athletes from Russia and Israel

Political scientist Alexey Martynov said that the IOC is politically dependent on the United States

Political scientist Alexey Martynov explained the different attitude of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) towards athletes from Russia and Israel. His words are quoted by Sport24.

Martynov said that the IOC is politically dependent on the United States, which controls most international organizations. “The IOC, understanding the consequences of not admitting the Israelis, is artificially dividing the conflict,” the political scientist considered. In his opinion, political processes are becoming more important than the Olympic Charter.

On November 1, the IOC spoke out about the conflict between Israel and Palestine. In their opinion, athletes cannot be held responsible for the actions of their governments.

After this, the organization stated that the IOC’s recommendations towards the Russians were a consequence of the start of a special operation during the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing 2022. They emphasized that this was a violation of the Olympic Truce in force at that time.
