Bivol’s manager said that the fight with Beterbiev could take place in 2024
Vadim Kornilov, manager of Russian boxer Dmitry Bivol, spoke about postponing the fight with compatriot Artur Beterbiev to 2024. His words are quoted by Boxing News with reference to Fight Hub TV.
“If he [Бетербиев] defeats Callum Smith in January, then there will be very serious negotiations for this fight to take place in May or July next year,” Kornilov said.
The fight between Beterbiev and Smith is planned to take place in February 2024. On January 29, 2023, the Russian met in the ring with Briton Anthony Yarde and won by technical knockout in the eighth round. He defended three world titles in the light heavyweight category – according to the World Boxing Council (WBC), the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and the World Boxing Organization (WBO).
During his career, 38-year-old Beterbiev won 19 victories and did not suffer a single defeat. 32-year-old Bivol won 21 victories and did not suffer a single defeat in his professional career. He holds the World Boxing Association (WBA) light heavyweight title.
