Biathlete Samuelsson criticized Thomas Bach, comparing his actions with Russia
Swedish biathlete Sebastian Samuelsson criticized the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach. His words are quoted by Aftonbladet.
The athlete did not like that the IOC proposed changing the Olympic Charter in order to re-elect Bach for a third term. “If we talk about other places where this happens, I compare it with Russia – that they bend the rules,” he recalled about the country.
Bach has headed the IOC since 2013. In 2021, he was re-elected to a four-year term, which, according to the current Olympic Charter, should be his last. Bach was proposed to be re-elected in October 2023.
Samuelsson is known for making harsh statements against Russian athletes. In particular, in the fall of 2022, the Swede condemned the head of the IOC for wanting to return Russian athletes to tournaments.
