Tutberidze: Trusova and Medvedeva went for medals, not for rental at the Olympics
Russian figure skating coach Eteri Tutberidze, in an interview with the YouTube channel “Comment.Show,” named the reasons that, in her opinion, prevented her former charges Alexandra Trusova and Evgenia Medvedeva from becoming Olympic champions.
“It’s not right to go a little towards a medal. You have to go to your best performance – you (…) won’t jump over your head,” said the specialist. In her opinion, Trusova and Medvedeva wanted to become Olympic champions too much, which is why they burned out.
Eteri Tutberidze gained fame thanks to her work with singles skaters. Among her students are Olympic champions Yulia Lipnitskaya, Alina Zagitova, Anna Shcherbakova and Kamila Valieva, as well as silver medalists of the Games Medvedev and Trusova.
Medvedeva is a two-time world and European champion. At the Games in Pyeongchang, she won silver, losing to compatriot Alina Zagitova. Trusova received silver at the Beijing Olympics. She has two bronze medals at the European Championship and a bronze medal at the World Championship.
