Tennis player Medvedev complained about whistling spectators and received a warning
Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev got into an altercation with spectators at the Masters series tournament in Paris. “Championship” reports this.
During the second set of the match with Grigor Dimitrov from Bulgaria, whistling was heard in the stands. Medvedev gestured to the spectators to be quiet, after which he turned to the judge and said: “They don’t want me to play, then I won’t play. There is someone who whistles. I’ll stop playing.” For refusing to serve, the athlete received a warning from the referee.
The match ended in victory for the Bulgarian tennis player with a score of 6:3, 6:7 (4:7), 7:6 (6:2).
27-year-old Medvedev is the third racket of the world. Dmitrov is ranked 17th in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings.
The ATP and the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) did not suspend Russians from the competition. Athletes continue to compete at tournaments in a neutral status.
