SANTIAGO

Ecuador’s national team has 23 medals in eleven days of competition at the Pan American Games held in Santiago. This figure is far from what was recorded at the Lima 2019 edition: 32 medals (10 gold, 7 silver, 15 bronze).

During these days of competition in Santiago 2023, qualifications for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024 were achieved by: José Rodríguez and María José Palacios, in boxing; Julio Mendoza, in riding; Diana Durango, in archery; Andrés Torres and María Sol Naranjo, in the pentathlon.

The leader in the medals table is the United States with 171 medals (72 gold, 45 silver and 54 bronze); followed by Brazil, 125 (37 gold, 48 silver and 40 bronze); Canada, 105 (35 gold, 32 silver and 38 bronze); and Mexico 90 (35 gold, 22 silver and 33 bronze). (D)

Jhonatan Narváez: We moved like chess pieces with Richard Carapaza for Ecuador to win road cycling gold at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago.

The organizers of the Pan American Games are furious: they are asking the workers for an explanation for the ‘error’ in measuring the route at the trial in which the Ecuadorian Glenda Morejón won silver

‘I’m already used to robberies,’ is Julio César Castillo’s powerful comment after receiving the bronze medal in boxing at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago.
