Hearings in the Promes drug smuggling case will take place in January 2024

The dates of the hearings in the case of the Dutch forward of Moscow Spartak Quincy Promes on drug smuggling have been determined. They were reported by De Telegraaf journalist Saskia Belleman on the social network X.

According to the source, hearings on the merits will be held in January 2024. “The case relates to the importation of two consignments of cocaine through the Western Scheldt and the port of Antwerp in January 2020,” Belleman added.

In January 2022, Dutch prosecutors accused Promes of having connections with Surinamese drug trafficker Piet Wartel. It was noted that the legionnaire of the Moscow team and his relatives invested money in a shipment of cocaine weighing a total of 1,370 kilograms, which was seized by the Dutch police in April 2020.

On June 19, the court sentenced Promes in absentia to 18 months in prison. The 31-year-old attacker was found guilty of involvement in the armed attack and stabbing of his cousin.

Promes returned to Spartak on February 25, 2021. Before that, he played for the red and white from 2014 to 2018, becoming the champion of Russia and the winner of the country’s Super Cup with the team.
