Lionel Messi says each of the eight Ballons d’Or is special
Argentine striker Inter Miami Lionel Messi appreciated receiving the eighth Ballon d’Or. His comment is quoted by Marca.
Messi said that each of the eight trophies is special. “I couldn’t imagine that I would have such a career and everything that I have achieved. I’m glad that I was lucky enough to be part of the best team in history,” he said.
The award ceremony took place on October 30 at the Chatelet musical theater in Paris. Among Messi’s main rivals were Norwegian Manchester City striker Erling Haaland and French PSG forward Kylian Mbappe.
In the 2022/2023 season, Messi won the World Cup with the Argentina national team, became the French champion with PSG, and also won the League Cup with Inter Miami. He has previously won the Ballon d’Or in 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2016, 2019 and 2021.
