Fitness trainer Francis-Townson: planking will not help in the fight against fat on the sides
Fitness trainer Jenny Francis-Townson has dispelled the myth about the benefits of planks in the fight against side fat. Her words are quoted by The Sun.
According to the specialist, the plank will not be beneficial for this problem, as it is a static exercise. “While planking can be an effective core strengthening tool, it won’t help reduce body fat because it doesn’t increase your heart rate much,” the trainer explained.

Francis-Townson added that lateral bending, which is aimed at stretching muscles, will not help get rid of excess fat on the sides. Crunches can also be ineffective if done incorrectly.
Earlier, fitness trainer Maria Volynkina spoke about the health hazards that arise when performing the plank incorrectly. According to her, due to incorrect technique and arching in the lower back, the stomach and neck relax, which leads to back pain and, over time, injuries.
