On Friday evening, the Electoral Court of Barcelona SC made the final decision on the lists led by Antonio Alvarez and Rafael Verduga. Amas were not qualified for the process that was to be carried out the following November.

The decision of the electoral body, according to the press release, was based on Article 151 of the Law on Sports, Physical Education and Recreation, which refers to the periods for which government officials are elected.

Article 151 of the Law on Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (2010), in the name and up to four years according to their statutes and they can opt for immediate re-election only once. For a new application for the same position, at least one period must have passed and under no circumstances will they be able to hold any management position in the organization without at least one period having passed since the termination of their position.

Antonio Alvarez: According to the records of the Ecuadorian Football Association, they are members of the board of directors of the professional sports club Toreros Futbol Club, so they are prevented from being candidates for members of the board of directors of Barcelona SC, this in accordance with the provisions of the Regulation on Electoral Processes of Barcelona SC, which is still in force today.

Rafael Verduga: This court decides not to accept the appeal filed against the partner’s candidacy.

And with this he concluded: Given that there is no qualified list to participate in this Call for Elections for the selection of members of the Barcelona SC Board of Directors for the period 2023-2027, and because neither the Club Statute nor the Barcelona SC Election Process Regulation -and there is a legal entity to address this legal gap, it is recommended that the Board of Directors of Barcelona SC as soon as possible announce a new call for elections for the election of the Board of Directors for the period 2023 2027.
