Skier Legkov: I don’t attach importance to Swede Lynn’s refusal to compete with the Russians
Olympic champion in cross-country skiing, winner of the Small Crystal Globe, Honored Master of Sports of Russia Alexander Legkov responded to Swede Linna Svan’s refusal to compete with the Russians. His words are quoted by Metaratings.
“I don’t care what she says. Let her not read what’s in her head or what she read in the press,” the athlete said. He added that he did not attach importance to her words, since the decision was not for her to make.
Earlier on October 25, Swan announced that she would not compete with the Russians. She felt that foreign athletes should not open up to Russians.
In March, the International Ski Federation banned Russians from participating in tournaments under the auspices of the organization. In September, the FIS again denied Russian athletes access to international tournaments for the 2022/2023 season.
