Svishchev: if Lithuanian fans break the rules, they will watch football at home

State Duma Deputy Dmitry Svishchev appreciated that the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) fined the Lithuanian Football Federation for fan chants directed against Russian President Vladimir Putin. His words are quoted by RT.

The deputy said that UEFA is obliged to act within the framework of strict measures that are prescribed in the regulations. “And if Lithuanian fans continue to systematically violate the rules, they will watch football at home on TV,” he thought.

On October 23, the president of the Lithuanian Football Federation, Edgaras Stankevicius, said that the organization would have to pay ten thousand euros. He said that a complaint against the fans was filed by a delegate from Kazakhstan, who was at the Lithuania-Serbia match. Stankevicius called the chances of success in case of an appeal low.

The offensive chant was heard during the 2024 European Championship qualifying match between Lithuania and Serbia, which took place on September 10 and ended with a score of 1:3. The delegate of the match was the representative of Kazakhstan Kuanysh Kanapyanov.
