A lower back injury (discomfort in the spine) has left Tamara Salazar out of the 81kg weightlifting event at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago.
Via a press release, the Ecuadorian Olympic Committee (COE) reported: “Lumbar injury, indicated by doctors, was the diagnosis of the weightlifter at the MEDS La Dehesa clinic (in the Chilean capital).”
“We were far from thinking that she would get injured in her second warm-up, before she was called to the platform to make her first start attempt, which required her to lift 105kg,” the COE added in its letter.
