Former world number one American Serena Williams cut out Belarusian tennis player Aryna Sabalenka from a joint photo. The publication is available on Instagram (the social network is banned in the Russian Federation; it belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and is banned) female athletes.
The photo was taken at the opening of the Italian-style restaurant Casadonna in Miami. Both athletes posted identical photos from the party on their social media pages, but Williams zoomed in so that the Belarusian tennis player would not be included in the frame.
In June, Sabalenka spoke about her desire to end her career due to threats and worsening public attitudes towards her after the start of a special operation in Ukraine. According to the second racket of the world, she was threatened on social networks, and those around her looked at her strangely. At Roland Garros, the Belarusian refused to participate in the open post-match press conference, saying that she did not feel safe answering questions from journalists.
