Weightlifter Angie Palacios won the first gold medal for Ecuador in the category up to 71 kilograms at the Pan American Games in Santiago 2023. She reached 118 kg in the jerk. and 135 in throwing a total of 253 Kg.
Colombia’s Mari Sánchez won silver with a score of 246 and American Meredith Alwine won bronze with a score of 239 at the Chimkowe Gymnasium.
Palacios did not fail in her starts, she was confident and easily won the first place on the podium. (D)
