Alavés tied 1-1 (1-1) with Villarreal This Sunday, October 22, the match corresponding to the 10th day of LaLiga EA Sports which was played at La Cerámica. Therefore, both teams remain at the bottom of the classification, equal to 9 points, to one of the relegation places.

In a duel marked by emergencies, Alavés knew how to calm their nerves better than Villarreal, for whom the change to the three-center-back system did not sit well. Luis García Plaza’s team quickly detected their rival’s problems and pressured their way out of the ball, which completely short-circuited Pacheta’s team. Villarreal, gripped by fear and unable to connect with their attacking partner, began to lose the ball easily, which allowed Alavés to grow to surround Jorgensen’s goal.

The first big chance came from Samu Omorodion, who after gaining the back of the defense and the melee against Cuenca, could not resolve against Jorgensen. Shortly after, the forward threatened again with a high shot from the edge of the area and with a goal, although it was disallowed due to a previous foul on Cuenca. By then, Villarreal, overwhelmed in the midfield, was already a nervous wreck at the mercy of the Vitorian attack, in which Guridi and Rioja gained more and more prominence. After a high shot from Guevara, Jorgensen once again rescued Villarreal, now by clearing with his feet a shot from Rioja in the midst of Alavés’ harassment.

Only in the last moments of the first half were Pacheta’s team able to get rid of their rival and take the game to the opposite field, although without any option to put Sivera in trouble.

After the break, Villarreal came out determined to change the course of the game with a more offensive pose. Already in the first minute of play, Sorloth collected an assist from Pedraza to finish just past the top corner.

Alavés’ response could not have been more forceful. Guiridi detected the space in the local defense and served a ball behind the central defenders so that Samu Omorodion battery to Jorgensen on his way out (0-1).

The goal spurred Pacheta’s team, which launched a total offensive after the entry of Altimira and the change of system. Villarreal, whose goal was annulled by the referee due to a previous foul by Comesaña, monopolized possession of the ball, although without the depth to threaten the Vitorian goal. When Pacheta’s team was most stuck, a piece of genius by Gerard Moreno rescued his team with the help of the VAR, which he appreciated penalty on a rebound with Sedlar’s hand right on the border of the area. Gerard Moreno converted the maximum penalty with a tight shot (1-1)in his 250th game with Villarreal.

The tie unraveled the match. Rioja forgave a counterattack with a weak shot and Villarreal began to live around the Sivera area, increasingly threatened. However, the one who was very close to the goal again was Samu Omorodion, who after breaking through the local defense with power and quality, could not beat Jorgensen in the final shot.

In the last minutes, Villarreal carried the weight of the match more by inertia than by play, although it was Gorosabel, with a poisoned shot that Jorgensen took from the corner, who was about to unbalance the score.
