Ecuadorian Andrea Rojas won a bronze medal in speed climbing at the Pan American Games in Santiago 2023. The gold medal went to American Piper Kelly, who won the first gold medal in the history of this sport.

Rojas climbed 15 meters in 7.59 seconds; and Kelly took first place by climbing the 15-meter five-degree climb in 7.52 seconds, located on the climbing walls at Cerrillos Park.

Kelly defeated her compatriot Emma Hunt, who failed in the final due to a false start. The North American also earned a direct pass to the 2024 Paris Olympics. (D)
