UFC 294 fighters entered the weigh-in ceremony without flags, despite permission
Fighters do not use national flags at the 294th edition of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in Abu Dhabi. RIA Novosti reports this.
Athletes entered the weigh-in ceremony without the national symbols of their countries, despite the fact that on October 8 the head of the promotion, Dana White, allowed this. In 2022, the UFC banned fighters from fighting with flags, not wanting to create political tension.
In the main event of the tournament, which will be held on October 21, Russian Islam Makhachev and Australian Alexander Volkanovski will meet. Makhachev will defend his UFC lightweight title.
In the second most important fight of the tournament, Khamzat Chimaev, representing the United Arab Emirates (UAE), will fight with former UFC welterweight champion American Kamaru Usman.
