Vyalbe complained about the lack of illuminated trails, new skis and sports facilities
The head of the Russian Ski Racing Federation, Elena Vyalbe, complained about the lack of resources when training athletes of the national team. Her words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
“We lack infrastructure, there are practically no illuminated trails, the material and technical base is very outdated – from skis to bases,” Vyalbe said. She added that the high cost of skis and equipment negatively affects the desire of parents to send their children to skiing.
On March 28, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in neutral status. At the same time, athletes from Russia and Belarus associated with the armed forces or security agencies of their countries are recommended to be excluded from participation in tournaments.
Since the end of February 2022, most Russian athletes have been suspended from tournaments on the recommendation of the IOC.
