The athlete Zabelinskaya, who took silver at the Olympic Games, said that she was not appreciated in Russia

Cyclist Olga Zabelinskaya explained her departure from the Russian team to the Uzbekistan team. Her words are quoted by Sport Express.

“I became convinced that in Russia I was not valued, and not only me. Only certain sports are valuable there. All other athletes are just a gray mass,” said the athlete, who took silver at the 2016 Olympic Games. The athlete emphasized that she saw a prospect for herself in Uzbekistan.

Zabelinskaya announced her decision to refuse to play for the Russian national team in 2018. She explained the decision by saying that she feared being excluded from the 2020 Olympic Games due to her citizenship.

Zabelinskaya won two bronze medals at the 2012 Olympics in road cycling. Four years later, she won silver and became the only Russian athlete to win medals in this type of program at the last two Games.
