The forward scored a goal in the regular season match against the Detroit Red Wings. For the Russian, this goal was the 474th in his league career. Thus, he rose to third place in the ranking of Russian snipers, displacing Alexander Mogilny (473 goals). The second and first positions are occupied by Sergei Fedorov (483 goals), currently heading CSKA Moscow, and Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin (822 goals), respectively.
On August 7, Malkin entered the top 20 best center forwards in the NHL. The 37-year-old hockey player became the only Russian included in the rating among active players. The athlete was in 18th place.
Malkin has played in the NHL since 2006. He has played for Pittsburgh throughout his career. Together with the team, the Russian won the Stanley Cup three times.
