Olympic champion Kostomarov said that children call him PapaRobot-3000
Olympic champion in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov told what nickname his children gave him after installing prosthetics. His words are quoted by Sport Express.
The athlete said that children call him PapaRobot-3000. “My son asked: is it possible to make your head rotate another 360 degrees,” he emphasized. Kostomarov added that children give him a reason to live.
On October 16, Kostomarov spoke about the first days after being discharged from the hospital. Then he stated that he was very worried before meeting the children. The skater noted that the disease and amputations completely changed his life.
Kostomarov was hospitalized on January 10 with pneumonia and influenza B. Due to prolonged connection to a blood oxygenation machine and a ventilator, his tissue began to die. Doctors amputated both feet of the skater, then the shins of both legs, the entire hand of his right hand and several fingers of his left.
