The qualifying match for the 2024 European Football Championship between the national teams of Belgium and Sweden was interrupted after the first half. This was reported on the website of the Swedish Football Association.

The reason was the shooting in Brussels. According to preliminary data, the victims were wearing jerseys of the Swedish national team. It is noted that the Swedish football players refused to go out for the second half. The match will not be continued.

Earlier it was reported that the killer who carried out the shooting in Brussels arrived on a scooter and began shooting people with a machine gun. He shouted Islamist slogans before fleeing. After the incident, security around King Baudouin Stadium was tightened.

At the time of the stoppage, the score in the match was equal – 1:1. In the 15th minute, the goal was scored by Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres. On 31 minutes the score was equalized by forward Romelu Lukaku, who converted a penalty.
