Italy will move bobsleigh and luge competitions abroad at the 2026 Games
Bobsleigh and luge competitions at the 2026 Olympic Games in Italy will be moved outside the country. RIA Novosti reports this.
The head of the Games organizing committee, Giovanni Malago, said that the Italian government insists on abandoning the construction of a luge center in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo. The competition will be held at an already operating site abroad.
The new location for the competition has not yet been determined. “We are already working to explore all possible solutions and alternatives together with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and international federations,” Malago added.
On March 28, the IOC recommended that Belarusians and Russians who do not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in neutral status. However, athletes associated with the armed forces or security forces of their countries are recommended not to be allowed to participate in tournaments.
