Algerian Nice footballer Atal apologizes for post in support of Palestine
Algerian footballer of the French “Nice” Youssef Atal on Instagram (the social network is banned in Russia; it belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and is banned) apologized for publishing a video in support of Palestine.
The athlete said that his publication could shock some people, but this was not his intention. He stressed that he strongly condemns violence in any form anywhere in the world and supports all victims of the conflict. “I will never support hate speech. Peace is an ideal in which I firmly believe,” concluded Atal.
Earlier, the 27-year-old defender published a video in support of the Palestinian people. The footballer also posted photos wearing an Algerian national team T-shirt and a scarf in the colors of Palestine. He later deleted these posts.
On the morning of October 7, the Israel Defense Forces reported that Palestinian radicals from the Gaza Strip fired rockets into Israel. In response, the army launched a military operation in Gaza. The Israeli military-political cabinet announced that the country had entered a “state of war.”
