Torpedo coach Larionov called the quality of sticks in KHL matches a crime
The head coach of Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod, Igor Larionov, in an interview with the club’s YouTube channel, spoke about the quality of the sticks in the matches of the Continental Hockey League (KHL).
“Nobody plays with such thin hooks on fairly average ice quality anymore. It’s a crime to play with the kind of clubs we get,” the specialist said. He declined to talk about the quality of the ice.
Earlier on October 14, Torpedo lost to Spartak Moscow in a KHL regular season match. The meeting ended with a score of 2:4.
Torpedo is in third place in the KHL Western Conference standings, scoring 25 points in 18 meetings. The leader is Yaroslavl Lokomotiv, which has 29 points in 18 matches.
The current winner of the Gagarin Cup is Moscow CSKA. In the 2022/2023 season, the team won the trophy for the third time. The capital club defeated Kazan Ak Bars in a series of up to four wins with a score of 4:3. Previously, the army team won the KHL in the 2018/2019 and 2021/2022 seasons.
