The Russian club spoke out about the transfer of the escaped Ukrainian player

Zvezda stated that Rasputko, who escaped from Ukraine, has nothing to do with them

The Russian football club Zvezda commented on the news about the transfer of the escaped Ukrainian player Alexander Rasputko. The statement was published on the team’s website.

“Some suggest that the footballer may end up at Zvezda due to his connection with our team coach Gennady Zubov. On behalf of the club, we declare that this football player has no relation to our club,” Zvezda’s statement said.

The Russian Premier League (RPL) also commented on the information that the athlete may be in Russia. “This event has nothing to do with the Russian Premier League. We do not comment,” the RPL press service said.

Earlier, Shakhtar, for which the footballer played, said that they sent him an official letter demanding that he return to the team’s location within five days. The club emphasized that if there were prerequisites for escape, the player would have remained in Ukraine and would not have gone to the match abroad.

On October 13, it became known that Rasputko disappeared at the airport after a UEFA Youth League match in Belgium on October 4. It was also reported that the athlete asked for political asylum in Russia. The footballer’s pro-Russian position was cited as one of the reasons for his escape.
