The RPL answered the question about the Ukrainian Shakhtar football player who fled to Russia

The RPL stated that the escape of Shakhtar player Rasputko has nothing to do with the league

The Russian Premier League (RPL) refused to answer the question about the possible play of the escaped Ukrainian football player Shakhtar Alexander Rasputko for Russian teams. They also stated that this event has nothing to do with the activities of the league.

“This event has nothing to do with the Russian Premier League. We do not comment,” the RPL press service said.

The escape of Ukrainian Shakhtar football player Alexander Rasputko became known on October 13. It was reported that the footballer born in Gorlovka (DPR) could leave the club due to his pro-Russian position, which led to conflicts with other team players. According to another version, the reason for the action could be Rasputko’s reluctance to renew his contract with Shakhtar.

The Ukrainian club confirmed that the footballer escaped, but they know nothing about his whereabouts. According to a team representative, Rasputko received a boarding pass, but did not show up to board the plane. The club stressed that the player faces termination of his contract if he does not return to the team’s disposal within five days.

Shakhtar emphasized that if there were prerequisites for escape, the player would have remained in Ukraine and would not have gone to the match abroad.
