Ecuador hosts Bolivia this Thursday in La Paz in the match of the third term of the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, which will be played at the Hernando Siles Stadium in La Paz.
Both teams have different scenarios: La Tri come into this match after a defeat against Argentina and a win over Uruguay, while they have been defeated by Brazil and the current world champions.
Eduardo Villegas, the former coach of the greens and the most successful coach in that country, pointed out the team that his colleague Félix Sánchez Bas has.
“Ecuador will be strong, regardless of the victims it has. His football is very dynamic and athletic. The Afro-Ecuadorian race that prevails with Independiente del Valle gave it a different dynamic,” he pointed out.
“He has speed on the pitch which has a positive effect, I hope we can overcome this situation,” Villegas added in a conversation with Tigo Sports.
As for his team, he wants them to “play well” and have an “identity” in their performance.
“The result is a product of what one or the other team can do better tactically because this is important, if we play well, we will have a chance to get closer to Ecuador’s goal,” he said.
“The attitude has to be good, it has to be improved because through that the football part or the final result can be improved,” concluded Villegas. (D)
