Gustavo Costas, the coach of the Bolivian national team, has a huge pressure on him this Thursday when his team welcomes Ecuador to La Paz in the 3rd date of the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
And the process of this competition for the green ones started with victories against Brazil and Argentina, because of which the coach received fierce criticism and questions.
Costas has known Ecuadorian football since he arrived in Guayaquil in 2012 to coach Barcelona SC, the team with which he was champion that season.
“This is a very important game, because we will have to try to change the image we left in the last game (against Albiceleste) and that is the fundamental thing,” he said.

“Winning three points will help us get excited again and thus enter the fight. “Ecuador is a very powerful team, which handles the ball very well,” Costas added at the press conference.
The Argentine highlighted the virtues of the team coached by Félix Sánchez Bas and did not hide his concern about the attack that will be commanded by Enner Valencia.
“You can’t give Ecuador space, the ball, because it can hurt at any moment. We have to be involved in the game,” he said.
“There are players like (Enner) Valencia who you can’t give a meter to because he is very dangerous. “They are a very offensive team, very powerful,” Costas concluded. (D)
