The biathlete of the Ukrainian national team Olga Abramova said on Instagram that she was refused to be allowed to train before the start of the sprint race during the World Cup in Hochfilzen, Austria.
“Guys, everything is fine, I start accurately, but without watching the track and shooting,” the athlete wrote in her story. Abramova explained that due to the delay in the results of the PCR test for two days, she is not given accreditation and is not allowed to enter the stadium.
New covid restrictions introduced in Austria due to the spread of the omicron strain have changed the way athletes work. Biathletes who have not been vaccinated with European vaccines and do not have a certificate of a previous illness must take PCR tests every three days. Athletes can enter the stadium only if they have accreditation and a negative test.
Previously, Russian biathletes were not allowed to enter the stadium in Hochfilzen. Eduard Latypov and Vasily Tomshin could not get to training because of the forgotten phones with the results of PCR tests. The athletes were allowed in only after they presented negative tests on someone else’s device.
