Coach Kafanov said that football player Ivan Provedel refused to communicate with the RFU
Goalkeeper coach of the Russian national team Vitaly Kafanov said that Italian goalkeeper with Russian roots Ivan Provedel refused to communicate with the Russian Football Union (RFU). His words are quoted by Sport Express.
Kafanov said that, unfortunately, the football player refused to make contact with Russian representatives. “He said he didn’t want to communicate with anyone from Russia. He could have been called to the training camp, that’s why I was looking for him,” he emphasized. The coach added that he was following Provedel’s progress.
On September 19, Provedel saved Lazio, for whom he plays, from defeat by the Spanish Atlético in the match of the first round of the group stage of the Champions League. He scored a goal in the fifth minute added to the second half.
The goalkeeper was born in the Italian city of Cechini in the family of an Italian father and a native of Moscow. The goalkeeper was called up to the Italian youth team; he was not involved in games for the main team. In February 2022, he stated that he would consider offers from the Russian national team.
