Athletes of the Russian national team will receive a salary increase and an increase in prize money in 2024
Athletes of the Russian national team will receive increased wages in 2024. Svetlana Gashkina, director of the department of budget policy in the social sphere and science of the Ministry of Finance, told Match TV about this.
According to her, in the budget for next year the payment fund was increased by 700 million rubles. “The prize money has increased compared to 2023 – now 2.6 billion rubles. This figure will grow to almost 3 billion,” added Gashkina.
On September 20, Deputy Minister of Sports of Russia Azat Kadyrov said that Russians participating in the Olympic Games 2024 in a neutral status will not receive prize money. “They go like no one from no one, athletes have to give up everything,” he explained. Kadyrov stressed that athletes will be removed from the Sports Training Center, and all expenses should be borne by the International Olympic Committee.
On September 11, sports commentator and TV presenter Dmitry Guberniev spoke about problems with financing Russian biathletes in the 2022/2023 season. According to him, the Russian Biathlon Union underpaid prize money to athletes.
