Former Real Madrid footballer Eden Hazard announces his retirement

Former Real Madrid footballer Eden Hazard announced on Instagram (the social network is prohibited in the Russian Federation; belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and is banned) about the end of a career.

“You have to be able to listen and say “stop” at the right moment. After a 16-year career and more than 700 matches played, I have decided to end my professional football career,” the 32-year-old athlete wrote. The midfielder noted that he had fulfilled his dream of playing throughout Europe and the world.

At the beginning of June 2023, Hazard left Real Madrid. The parties decided to terminate the contract by mutual consent.

Hazard has played for Real Madrid since 2019. As part of the Spanish team, he won the Champions League in the 2021/2022 season. The midfielder also played for the French Lille and the English Chelsea. As part of the Belgian national team, Hazard became a bronze medalist at the 2018 World Championships.
